Impressions from Hawaii, the Big Island

As I am still in Hawaii, I don’t want to spend too much time in front of the computer, so here are only some short impressions from our stay on the Big Island. What should I say, paradise for most people, as there is perfect beaches and great nature: There are many more photos to come, but to get a […]

Slick Google Map 0.2 released

I just have pushed a new version of the Slick Google Map plugin for WordPress to the servers. There are not many changes, but one that has been requested already in the ancestor, the Comprehensive Google Map Plugin, namely editing of saved shortcodes. And although the layout of the edit button is not so nice (help wanted), it does its […]

Rewriting fmtutil in Perl

TeX Live 2015 is still a few months of, but one of the things I am planning for it is to rewrite fmtutil in Perl, and change its functionality slightly. This follows the rewrite of updmap in the last years. The main user-visible change will be that fmtutil, like updmap will go “multi”, that means it will read all fmtutil.cnf […]

Tutorial: Lists in CafeOBJ

I have created a new tutorial for CafeOBJ that will introduce users to functional programming the CafeOBJ way, in particular list processing and programming. We introduce lists, and define functions on them: length, append, insert, and insert sort. At the end we shortly touch the topic of tracing CafeOBJ rewriting. The tutorial is published on the CafeOBJ page, direct link: […]

Sigil for Debian

After long and painful back and forth, we finally uploaded Sigil to Debian. Sigil is a great multi-platform epub editor. First time the intention to package was uttered was in 2010, see bug 590180, but the activity soon died off again. In 2014 I did a first packaging (quick and dirty) of a recent version because I wanted to have […]

End of gitorious, move to github

I just realized that gitorious.org will shut down end of May due to being acquired by GitLab. That means I had to move the repositories I had there over to different places. Gitorious offered seamless import into GitLab, but since I have already several other repos running on GitHub, I decided to move all my repositories there. That means that […]

ptex2pdf 0.6

TeX Live pre-2015 for Debian

Now that jessie is close to release, and TeX Live 2015 release is planned for around June, I thought I start working on integrating the current status of TeX Live svn and tlnet into Debian, just to be sure that when TL2015 is released we are ready at the Debian side. There are still lots of things that will change, […]

PiwigoPress release 2.27

I just pushed a new release of PiwigoPress (, WordPress plugin dir) to the WordPress servers. This release adds one feature requested on the support forums. The new feature allow to put html code just before and after the images included in the widget. This allows to add some specific formatting code to make the image rotate or align horizontally. […]

Debian updates (MusixTeX, PMX, mu, cafeobj)

It has been a while that I have updated some Debian packages. As we are in pre-release freeze there is not much to do, and uploading would disturb the release process. But well, these are all excuses, because we can upload to experimental. So after having found a bit of free time – or better – time to digress from […]
